Crowned Already

Psalm 8:5 (KJV)

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Crowned with glory and honour. That is God's description of an ordinary human being, written long before you had done anything worth praising.

David is amazed by it. He has just looked at the stars and asked why God would bother with people at all — and the answer is not that we are impressive. It is that God decided to crown us. The dignity is given, not earned, which means it cannot be removed by failure or poverty or what anyone says about you.

This changes how you carry yourself, and it should change how you treat everyone else. The person serving you, the child interrupting you, the one whose job you would not want — every one of them is wearing the same crown, whether or not anybody has ever told them.

Honour one of them today in a way they will notice. You are not being generous. You are being accurate.
