See It Coming
Proverbs 27:12 (KJV)
A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
The prudent man and the simple man both saw the same thing. The difference was what they did next: one hideth himself, the other passes on.
Passing on is not stupidity. It is usually hope doing a job it was never meant to do. The car has been making that sound for months. The debt is growing slowly. The rent is going up in January. We can see it, and we walk past it, quietly hoping that time will handle it.
Foreseeing is not fear and it is not unbelief. It is simply looking at what is in front of you and acting while acting is still cheap. The same problem costs a little today, a lot next month, and everything in a crisis.
Name the thing you have been walking past. One step today — a call, a repair, a saved amount, an honest conversation — is what the verse means by hiding yourself.
