God Blesses Obedience
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
When David first brought the ark home, he did it with a celebration, a crowd, and a brand-new cart. His heart was right. His method was not — God had said the ark was to be carried on the shoulders of men. The cart was sincere, and it ended in grief.
That story is in the Bible for a reason. Good intentions are not the same as obedience. You can be genuine, joyful and worshipful, and still be doing it your own way.
We do this constantly. We give God enthusiasm where He asked for a decision. We give Him a project where He asked for repentance. We give Him our comfortable service instead of the uncomfortable instruction.
He is not impressed by the size of the offering when He has already told us what He wants.
Prayer: Father, forgive me for offering You enthusiasm where You asked for obedience. Show me the thing I have left unfinished.
Today’s action: Write down the last clear thing you sensed God asked you to do. Take the first step of it today.
Where have you trusted your sincerity instead of God's instruction?
