Be Still, and Know
Be still, and know that I am God.
Notice the order: the knowing comes after the stillness. There is a knowledge of God that noise cannot carry. You can read about Him quickly, but you cannot know Him in a hurry.
Stillness is the hardest discipline of our generation, and we are the first people in history to be this bad at it. When you first sit down in silence, expect a crowd. Your to-do list arrives. Old conversations replay. Your phone becomes strangely urgent.
That is not failure. It is simply the traffic of a mind that has never been asked to stop.
Do not fight the noise. Just return, gently, again and again, to Him. Five minutes is enough to begin. What you are building is not a mystical experience — it is the plain ability to be with God.
Prayer: Father, quiet my heart. Teach me to be with You without needing to be entertained.
Today’s action: Sit before God for five minutes today with no phone, no music, and no requests.
What voices arrive the moment you try to be quiet?
