A Value With No Structure
Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Jesus gave a test that cuts through every good intention: look at what is actually produced.
Apply it to structures, not only to people. A church may preach discipleship and have no pathway for a new believer to be discipled. A business may say it values people and quietly reward burnout. A father may value presence and keep a schedule with no room in it.
Nobody is lying in those cases. That is what makes it hard. The values are sincerely held — they are simply not built into anything, so the structure keeps producing a different fruit.
A value with no structure is only a preference. If nothing in your week protects it, it will lose every time something urgent shows up. Find one gap this week and close it by an inch.
Prayer: Lord, let the way I actually live match what I say I believe. Close the gap.
Today’s action: Name one value you hold. Write down the one thing in your week that actually protects it.
Where do your stated values and your real practice quietly disagree?
