Beauty for Your Ashes
To give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning.
Ashes are what is left after a fire — the grief, the failure, the thing that burned down. God does not ask you to pretend the fire never happened. He offers something far better: a trade. Bring the ashes. Receive beauty.
But a trade needs open hands. Many of us hold our ashes tightly, ashamed, sure that being broken has cancelled our future. It has not. Nothing you have walked through is wasted in the hands of God. The very place you were wounded is often the place He builds your deepest compassion and shows you what you were made to do.
Healing is rarely one dramatic moment. It is a slow, gentle opening of the hand — bringing the hidden thing into the light where it can finally be dealt with. What you face can be healed. What you hide only gets worse.
You are not too broken. You are not too far gone. Being made whole is not only for people with smaller wounds. It comes to those who keep taking small, honest steps toward the God who heals.
Bring the ashes. He has already prepared the beauty.
Prayer: Jesus, I bring You the broken places. Trade my ashes for Your beauty.
Today’s action: Name one wound you have hidden — and tell it to God, or one safe person, today.
What pain have you buried, believing it makes you unfit to be used?
