He Looks Where Nobody Else Does

1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)

For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Samuel was a prophet, and he still got it wrong. He looked at the tall, impressive brother and thought: surely this is the one. God said no. Man looketh on the outward appearance.

This cuts two ways, and both are good news. It means you are not being overlooked. The room may be looking at someone taller, louder, better connected — and God is looking somewhere else entirely, at a part of you no interview has ever tested.

It also means you cannot get away with appearance alone. A reputation is built outside; a life is built inside. Plenty of people have won the room and lost themselves, because they invested everything in the part that shows.

David was in a field with sheep while his brothers were being inspected. God had already seen him. Keep your heart honest, and let being overlooked stop frightening you.
