Prove Me Now

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts.

God rarely invites people to test Him. Here He does: prove me now herewith. Try it and see.

The order is the whole lesson. Not what is left over — the first part, brought in before anything else has a claim on it. Anyone who has managed a household knows that whatever is left at the end is whatever nobody else got to first. Giving from leftovers is not generosity; it is chance.

Notice the reason attached: that there may be meat in mine house. This is not God needing money. It is God building something that feeds people, and inviting you to be part of how it gets fed.

Trusting Him with the first part is uncomfortable exactly once a month, and it slowly rearranges your relationship with money. You stop asking whether you can afford to give, and start finding out whether He meant what He said.
