Out of Darkness Into Light

1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

Four titles are stacked up here, and none of them were earned. Chosen. Royal. Holy. Peculiar — meaning God's own possession, set apart for Him.

Many believers live far below their titles. They know they are forgiven but not that they are chosen; they hope God tolerates them and would never dare say He treasures them. That is not humility. It is disbelief wearing humility's clothes.

But see the purpose clause, because it keeps this from being about status: that ye should shew forth the praises. You were not brought into the light to admire yourself in it. You were brought out so that what He did for you could be seen.

Somebody near you is still in the dark you were called out of. Your story is not for framing. It is for telling.
