How You Behave at Home
Psalm 101:2 (KJV)
I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way… I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
David makes a promise about the hardest room in the world: within my house. Not in the palace, not before the nation. At home, where nobody is applauding and nothing is performed.
It is possible to be gracious all day and short-tempered at the door. Patient with strangers, sharp with your own family. We excuse it by saying we are tired, and we are — but the people who get the tired version of us are the people who matter most.
A perfect heart here does not mean a flawless one. It means undivided — the same person in both places, not one man in public and another at home.
Your private conduct is not a smaller matter than your public one. It is the real one. Start today with a single apology to someone who has been living with your worst version.
