The Fight You Do Not Have to Fight
The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
There are two halves here, and we love the first one. The LORD shall fight for you. Then comes the condition, and it is harder than any fight: ye shall hold your peace.
Holding your peace does not mean you have no case. Israel had a very good case, standing between an army and a sea. It means refusing to pick up a weapon God did not hand you — the last word, the reply that would settle it, the message you have already written in your head three times.
Some situations cannot be won by explaining yourself, and every attempt makes the tangle tighter. God says: step back. Let me handle this one. Your silence is not weakness there; it is the space He works in.
Today, one battle is yours and another is His. The one that keeps you awake rehearsing arguments is almost always His.
Prayer: Lord, I hand you the battle I have been fighting with my own words. Fight it for me.
Today’s action: Choose one argument you are itching to win, and stay silent in it today.
Which battle are you fighting that God never asked you to fight?
