The Weight You Were Never Meant to Carry

Matthew 11:28–29 (KJV)

Jesus did not say, "Come to me, all you who are lazy." He said:

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

He was talking to busy people. Stretched people. The ones doing good things until the good things left them empty. If that is you today, hear this gently: being tired all the time is not something to be proud of. It is often a sign that you picked up a weight He never handed you.

He is not asking you to do nothing. He is asking you to take His yoke. A yoke is the wooden bar that joins two oxen so they pull together. It is built for two. He is already pulling. He is only asking you to stop pulling alone.

Much of what drains us is not the work God gave. It is the load we added ourselves — the need to prove something, to keep up with others, to be everything to everyone. Today, let one of those weights fall off your shoulders. The world will keep turning. You will still be loved.

Rest is not the prize you get for finishing. In the Kingdom, rest is where the strength to finish comes from.

Prayer: Father, I bring You my tiredness today. Teach me to live at Your pace.

Today’s action: Name one thing you are carrying that God never asked you to carry — and put it down.

What are you doing in your own strength that you were meant to do in His?
