Your Mind Is Not Your Enemy
Paul does not say "remove your mind" or "escape your mind." He says:
Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Change begins in the place most of us have given up on — the quiet room of our own thoughts. Many of us are not fighting a problem today. We are fighting a story we keep telling ourselves. A voice that says: you are behind, you are too much, you always ruin this, God is disappointed in you.
Here is the truth: a thought is not a fact just because it is loud, or familiar, or spoken in your own voice. The enemy does not usually arrive looking like the enemy. He whispers with your accent.
Renewing the mind is not positive thinking. It is turning away from the lies you agreed with, and agreeing with God instead. You do not have to feel it first. You speak the truth, and the feeling follows the faith.
Your mind can be re-trained the way a garden is re-planted — not all at once, but one seed at a time. Start today with one. Whatever accuses you, answer it. Not with willpower, but with the Word.
Prayer: Lord, renew my mind. Where I have believed a lie, plant Your truth.
Today’s action: Catch one thought today that accuses you, and answer it out loud with Scripture.
What is one belief about yourself you have accepted that God never said?
