Go to the Ant
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise… provideth her meat in the summer.
God sends us to a very small teacher: the ant. What makes her wise? She provideth her meat in the summer. She prepares during the season of plenty for the season when there will be little. No one stands over her giving orders. She simply plans ahead.
This is God’s money wisdom in its smallest form: do not use up everything in the good times. Wise people put something aside in summer so they are not desperate in winter. Planning today prevents a crisis tomorrow.
It does not take much to start. The ant moves one crumb at a time. Start small: a little saved, a little put aside, a plan made before you need it. People without discipline live only for today and get caught out by tomorrow. Wise people, like the ant, prepare quietly while the season is still good. Consider her ways — and be wise.
Prayer: Lord, give me the wisdom to plan ahead — to prepare in the good season for the hard one.
Today’s action: Put aside something small today for a future need — start saving, or add to what you have saved.
Are you living only for today, or preparing wisely for the seasons ahead?
