Anxious for Nothing
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Worry is like a tenant who moves into your mind and refuses to leave. It takes up the space that was meant for peace. Paul tells us to put it out: be anxious for nothing.
But he does not only say stop worrying. He tells us what to do instead. In every thing by prayer. Worry turned into prayer changes direction. Instead of going round and round in your head, it travels up into God’s hands. And notice the thanksgiving. Thanking God reminds you of every time He came through before, while you wait on Him this time.
Then comes the promise, and it is a big one: a peace that passeth all understanding will guard your heart and mind. Not a peace you can explain, but one you can feel. Give Him the worry by name. Thank Him ahead of time. And let His peace stand guard where worry used to live.
Prayer: Father, I trade my worry for Your peace. I give You this worry by name, with thanks.
Today’s action: Turn one worry into a clear, thankful prayer today — ask Him, then thank Him ahead of time.
What have you been carrying as worry that you have not yet turned into prayer?
