Authority You Already Carry

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy.

I give unto you. Past tense, already settled. This is not a prize for the very holy. It is standard equipment for a believer.

Many of us pray as if authority is still being decided. We beg for something that was handed over long ago, the way a person searches the whole house for glasses that are on their face. The problem is not supply. It is that we do not know what we are carrying.

Notice what the authority is for. Not for showing off, and not for controlling other people. It is for treading — for walking forward through territory that used to stop you. Authority is something you use while going somewhere.

There is a fear that has bossed you around for years. It is not stronger than you; it has just never been challenged. Walk today like someone who has already been given the right of way.
