Fear Is Not From God
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Start with what this verse rules out. That heavy, gripping fear you know so well — God hath not given it to you. It did not come from Him. It is not your assignment and it is not your personality.
Then look at what He did give, because it is exactly what fear steals. Power — fear leaves you feeling helpless. Love — fear makes you suspicious and defensive. A sound mind — fear scatters your thinking until you cannot decide anything.
So when you are afraid, you are not weak or unspiritual. You are simply operating from a supply God never sent. And the answer is not to shout at yourself. It is to go back and collect what He did send.
Fear says: imagine everything that could go wrong. A sound mind says: name the one true thing, and take the next real step. Only one of those two is from your Father.
Prayer: Lord, quiet the fear in me and give me back a clear head.
Today’s action: Write down the fear you woke up with, and next to it write what you can actually do today.
Which of your fears have you accepted as simply part of who you are?
