Be Still and Know
Be still, and know that I am God.
In a world where sitting still feels like falling behind, God gives a command that almost sounds careless: be still. Stop pushing. Stop running around. Be still — and know.
There is a kind of knowing that only comes in the quiet. When you are rushing, you can say the words “God is in control,” but you do not feel them. In the quiet, the truth moves from your head down into your heart: I am God — and you are not. He is already holding the thing you have been anxiously trying to hold.
Being still is not doing nothing. It is trust you can see. It says, “I can stop pushing because You never stop working.” The problem you are wrestling with is not too big for the God who rules over all the nations. Be still. Let go. And know, deep down, that He is God, and He has it.
Prayer: Father, I stop pushing. In the quiet, remind me that You are God and I am not.
Today’s action: Take three minutes of complete quiet today and simply say, “You are God. I trust You.”
What would change if you really believed God was in control of the thing you keep fighting over?
