The Joy of the Lord

Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)

The joy of the LORD is your strength.

Notice where the strength comes from: the joy of the LORD — not joy about good circumstances. Happiness that depends on your day goes up and down with your day. But the joy of the Lord is fixed to who He is, so it can hold you steady even when nothing about today makes you smile.

This joy is a source of strength. When you lose your joy, you lose your strength. A tired, joyless heart gives up quickly. But a heart rooted in the goodness of God keeps going in a way your circumstances cannot explain.

You may not be able to change what today holds, but you can choose where you fix your joy. Not on the outcome, but on the Lord who never changes. Thank Him. Remember how good He has been. And let His joy — steady and unshaken — become the strength that carries you through.

Prayer: Lord, be my joy today — not because everything is easy, but because You are good.

Today’s action: Choose one thing to truly thank God for right now, and let it lift your heart.

Where have you let your circumstances, instead of the Lord, decide how much joy you have?
