Bring It Here
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Two kinds of tired are named here. Labour is the tiredness of working. Heavy laden is the tiredness of carrying. They are not the same, and the second one is worse.
You can rest from labour by stopping. You cannot rest from a load by stopping, because it comes with you. It sits on you at night. It is there before you open your eyes. Many people are not exhausted by their work at all — they are exhausted by what they refuse to put down.
Notice that Jesus does not say fix it and then come. He says come while still loaded. The invitation is for people in the middle of the mess, not people who have tidied themselves up first.
So bring it here. Not the polished version — the actual weight. Say it plainly. That is not a lack of faith; it is the exact thing He asked you to do.
Prayer: Lord, I am tired. I am bringing it to you instead of carrying it alone.
Today’s action: Say out loud to God the one thing you are most tired of carrying.
What are you carrying that you have never actually handed over?
