Water Someone Else
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
He that watereth shall be watered also himself. Not instead of. Also. God does not ask you to choose between your need and someone else's.
When we are dry, our instinct is to pull inward and wait until we feel full enough to give. It feels sensible. It is also the surest way to stay dry, because the promise here attaches the watering to the watering — help flows back to the person whose hands are already busy helping.
This is not a trick to get blessed. A liberal soul is generous by nature, not by strategy. But God has built the world so that generosity is not a leak. It is a channel, and channels stay clean by carrying water.
You are probably waiting on something today. While you wait, find somebody dryer than you and pour a little. That is not delaying your answer. It is often how it arrives.
Prayer: Lord, use me to water somebody today, and trust you with my own dry places.
Today’s action: Do one useful thing for someone else before you deal with your own list.
Who could you water today, while you are waiting to be watered?
