Fear Not, I Am With Thee

Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God… I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

God says fear not more often than almost anything else in Scripture — not because fear is a small thing, but because He knows how often it comes after us. And every time He says it, He gives a reason.

Here the reason is that He is close: for I am with thee. Fear gets smaller when you remember you are not facing this alone. Be not dismayed; for I am thy God. The One holding your hand is not a far-off god. He is your God, and He has committed Himself to hold you up.

Fear says you will fall. God says, I will uphold thee. Fear says you are alone. God says, I am with thee. You do not beat fear by pretending it is not there. You beat it by holding on to something bigger and truer. He is with you. He is holding your right hand. You can face today without fear.

Prayer: Father, when fear rises, remind me: You are with me, You hold me up, I do not need to be afraid.

Today’s action: When fear grips you today, say this back to it: “God is with me. He holds me up.”

What fear would lose its power if you truly believed God was holding your right hand?
