The Measure You Give
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over.
The way God works is the opposite of the way the world works. The world says hold on tight and get all you can. Jesus says give — and then describes a return so full it cannot be held: pressed down, shaken together, running over.
This is not a trick to get God to make you rich. It is how the Kingdom works: open hands can both give and receive, but a closed fist can do neither. The person who gives stays in the flow of God’s supply. The person who hoards cuts himself off from it.
With the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you. Give little, and you live in a small world. Give generously, and you put yourself right where God’s blessing flows. Be a river, not a tank. Let what God gives pass through you to other people — and watch how faithfully He keeps the supply running over.
Prayer: Lord, make me a flowing river, not still water. Use what is in my hands to bless others.
Today’s action: Give something away today — money, time, encouragement — expecting nothing back.
Are you holding on tightly because you are afraid, or giving freely because you trust God?
