Guard the Source
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Of everything worth guarding, Scripture puts the heart first — and says to guard it with all diligence. Why does it matter so much? Because out of it are the issues of life. Your heart is the spring that everything else flows from: your words, your choices, your moods, the direction of your life.
We guard our phones, our homes, our money. But how carefully do we guard what we let into our hearts? What you watch, who you listen to, what you keep thinking about — all of it soaks into the spring and flavours everything that comes out.
Guarding your heart does not mean making it hard. It means taking care of it. Filter what goes in. Refuse the slow, steady drip of comparison, bitterness, and fear. Feed it truth, thankfulness, and God’s Word. What your life looks like tomorrow is being decided by what you allow into your heart today. Keep it carefully.
Prayer: Lord, help me guard my heart — what I take in, what I think about, and what I let shape me.
Today’s action: Notice one thing that is feeding your heart badly today, and put a limit on it.
What are you letting into your heart that is quietly poisoning the source?
