Prepare in the Good Season
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
The ant is not admired here for working hard. Everybody works hard. She is admired for working hard at the right time — she gathers in the season when there is something to gather.
Summer always feels permanent while you are in it. Money is coming in, health is good, the contract is running, the customers are buying. That is exactly when preparing feels unnecessary, and exactly when it is possible.
Winter is not a punishment. It is a season, and it comes to everybody. The only question is whether it meets a prepared house or a surprised one. The ant does not predict the future. She simply refuses to believe that summer is the only season there is.
If today is a good day, it is a gathering day. Put something aside now, while putting something aside is still easy.
Prayer: Lord, give me the wisdom to prepare while the season is still good.
Today’s action: Decide one thing you will set aside this month for a season that has not come yet.
What are you doing with your summer?
