You Are His Workmanship

Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Workmanship. The word carries the sense of something made with care — a craftsman's piece, not a factory item. You are not an accident that God is making the best of.

Then look at the timing in this verse. The good works were before ordained — prepared in advance, waiting for you. You are not trying to invent a purpose from nothing. You are walking into something already laid out.

That reframes the anxious search for purpose that many believers live in. You are not auditioning. The question is not what impressive thing should I do with my life, but what has God already put in front of me and in my hands.

Usually it is nearer and plainer than we expect. The skill you think is nothing special. The people already around you. Start walking in what is prepared, and the path tends to open further along.
